A good furniture cleaner is: - 100ml Cider Vinegar, 100ml Methylated Spirits, 100ml Pure Tutrpentine and 50ml Boiled Linseed Oil. Put all of the ingredients in a bottle and shake well before use.

A great woodturners polish can be made at home by using the following recipe: - 100ml Tung Oil, 25ml Boiled Linseed Oil, 1 - 15 parts selected Beeswax, plus 5% Eucalyptus Oil. Gently heat the linseed oil and wax in a double boiler, let it cool, add the Tung Oil and Eucalyptus Oil. Store in a screw top container - it must be air tight - and shake well before use.
This makes an excellent high-grade finish on must turned timber, particularly hardwoods or timber with a close grain. Let it dry, cut back with fine abrasives or fine steel wool and re-apply or repeat the process until the desired finish or result is obtained.
